How to Choose Between Intensive, Classic & Classic Summer?
If you’re not sure which Online Insights delivery mode to opt for you can use the guide below:
- Intensive (2 Days): Select this option if you’re looking for a taster for what to expect at university and university preparation skills.
- Classic (1 Week): A great option if you’re looking to explore a more immersive, and deeper academic experience, in conjunction with university preparation. Additionally if you are looking to add to your project portfolio, this option is for you.
- Classic Summer (2 Weeks) A great option if you’re looking to explore more advanced Oxbridge-level study and academic experience for uni preparation, and also wish to add a project to your portfolio.
The Online Insights programme has exposed me to a lot of knowledge I don’t think I would have learned, especially not in school. It was very in-depth and progressed towards cell biology, which I find particularly exciting.
I feel that this course has prepared me for higher education by teaching me the knowledge that I would be taught at university-level.
I’m planning on pursuing medicine and cell biology at university, so the programme showed me how it would be taught at a higher level.
I found classes online especially interesting. I thought it would be difficult to cope with, and I thought I might not be able to ask what I needed, but I actually found it very surprising how helpful and accommodating my tutors were. They explained a lot of things over and over, and especially in the one-to-one sessions beforehand, I had quite a bit of time to ask them questions about what I didn’t understand.
What to expect from the programme
About Online Insights
Gain an unparalleled understanding of a subject of your choice. Learn university-level topics alongside other students from around the world with the guidance of expert university tutors from Oxford University and Cambridge University.
Participants will focus on advanced content and develop both the expertise and enthusiasm to plan for an academic future with confidence.
Students take part in a combination of subject-based tuition, 1:1 tutorials, future skills workshops and social activities with students from around the world.
All teaching is delivered by our faculty of academics from Oxford and Cambridge University – the same tutors that teach at our residential summer schools.
To see how the Online Insights programme is structured, please view the timetable.
Teaching Style
Online Insights is designed to emulate the experience of academic seminars in a university environment. Aside from daily contact with their tutors, participants will also meet current undergraduates at Cambridge University during activities, learn from visiting expert guest speakers and engage in interactive skills-based workshops.
Subject-Based Lessons
With a maximum class size of ten students (an average of five), the most popular subjects on our residential programmes are available online, such as medicine, engineering, business management, law and more.
1:1 Tutorials
Whilst the majority of teaching is delivered via group classes, participants also receive two 30-minute individual tutorials from their tutor, at the beginning and end of each week. This time is dedicated to ensuring each student is progressing at the same pace as the rest of the class, as well as to discussing future academic goals and interests.
Academic Workshops
After subject-specific lessons, participants take part in workshops designed to develop personal attributes for higher education, such as academic writing, choosing a degree and interview skills.
Student Experience Programme
A key highlight of our residential programmes is the opportunity to socialise and network with other students from around the world.
These sessions are delivered by our Mentors – undergraduates from Oxford and Cambridge University, who can share their stories and lessons – and hopefully inspire participants to apply to the world’s top universities.
