I’ve been learning mostly about the disadvantages and advantages a woman faces in the workplace and how to navigate those situations, how to use the skills that I have, and how I can adapt what I’m doing on the programme and bring it into real life scenarios in the future. My favourite part of the program was definitely the people that I’ve met and the different cultural backgrounds, especially in the future female leaders program there are so many people that have different experiences and have come from different places that have different levels of rights and representation – it’s been really incredible.
The Female Future Leaders programme was an incredible experience. It really broadened my horizons, especially if you have issues with public speaking and confidence – it’s really helped with that.

What is English Literature?

What Is Literary Criticism?
Literary Criticism studies and interprets literary works. In this module, you’ll learn about the purpose of literature and the role of literary criticism. Then, take a trip back in time and explore how individuals and societies have interpreted literature. All the way from Aristotle to the present day. End this module with a flourish by having your own manifesto of literary criticism.
Great Poets
Two poets, in particular, will catch our attention in this module: John Milton and T. S. Eliot. Analyse how these two great minds used poetry to engage with Biblical stories and themes. You’ll zero in on how Milton and Eliot’s poetry enabled provocative philosophical debates on heroism, government, and hope.
Influencing Meaning
Do you know that literary structures influence the texts’ meaning? Even the physical formats of books and prints! In this session, you’ll study three different textual forms: a sonnet; an excerpt from a young children’s book from the 1780s; and a selection of texts from William Blake’s Songs of Innocence.
Articulating Ideas
Here you’ll present your final projects, followed by a discussion about the presentation. Don’t be afraid to ask for individual feedback on your work. Then dive deep into the analysis of famous historical speeches. And be inspired to ask questions about formal essayistic structures.
