Meet our Mentors
In Cambridge and Oxford, each of our programmes is managed by a senior, trained and experienced College Manager. Across all of our programmes, students are supported by Mentors, who share their own experience of studying at top universities with inspirational energy – we create a fun, safe environment in which our participants can thrive.

PoppyMentorPolitics, Philosophy and Economics Graduate at the University of OxfordPoppy studies PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics) at Merton College in Oxford, where she was the Welfare Representative for her college last year. Having grown up in North Yorkshire, Poppy loves to hike and take in the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside when she's home from university in the holidays. Aside from walking, Poppy loves to bake and is an avid reader. She has begun playing cricket at University, which she has found a fantastic hobby when the weather is good enough!"I've really enjoyed getting to know my 'mentor family' and seeing them really quickly make friends with each other and see how much they're enjoying the programme. They were loving it from day one, with rave reviews about the classes and the subject matter that they've been learning, which is great to see!

JemMentorStudying Medicine at the University of OxfordJem is a medical student at Somerville College, Oxford. Having come from Cambridge, they have experienced the perks of living in both famous cities. Their extracurricular interests include playing guitar, badminton and participating in the university eSports team.Personally, I'm someone who really likes to interact with other people and gets energy from that. It's great to be helping students to experience a town that I know really well, I chat to participants on a daily basis and make sure that they're okay and having a good time, as well as showing them around the city that I love - being their guide to the hidden coffee spots that only Oxford locals and students know about!

Lily-MaeMentorStudying Chemistry at the University of OxfordLily is a Chemistry student at New College, Oxford University, where she is the Captain of the Women’s Rugby Team and has recently represented Oxford at Twickenham Stadium. Originally from Kenya but currently living in South Africa, Lily has lived at boarding schools in England since 11. In her free time, Lily enjoys a wide range of water sports and is a keen scuba diver."I think one of my favourite things about working with as a mentor has been getting to know all of the participants and getting involved with all of the activities that are really enjoyable things to do. SophieMentorStudying Economics and Management at the University of OxfordSophie is an Economics and Management student at St Peter’s College, University of Oxford, where she is the president of the St Peter’s Ball, a trained peer supporter and the disabilities rep in the JCR committee. Sophie is originally from London, where she grew up and went to school. In her spare time Sophie enjoys playing college sports and organising team socials, baking, and painting."I like to see Immerse as a 'mini university' because participants come onto the programme and study these more complicated subjects, with people they aren't familiar with from different places, and it's like an introduction to university life, especially because they get to meet university tutors and experience university-style classes, which is really lovely"

Can you tell me more about the residential Mentors?The participants are nurtured and cared for by our experienced mentors and college managers who are current undergraduates or postgraduates studying at the University of Cambridge and Oxford. The Immerse mentors are there to ensure that participants are able to get the most out of the programme, and provide participants with additional support in their chosen subject so that they leave Immerse feeling confident about their academic future.

What training do the Mentors receive?The wellbeing of participants is at the forefront of everything we do. Our mentors receive Safeguarding and First Aid training and are on hand to offer support and friendship to all participants. They truly understand the challenges and pressures that participants face and are happy to share their own advice and experience. Our resident summer team, together with college personnel supervise the site 24/7. Our locations are all safe environments and all members of staff undergo extensive security and safety checks, including UK Government Enhanced DBS checks.

What is a Mentor 'Family'?During your time on an Immerse residential programme, you'll be allocated a Mentor 'Family', which will consist of a group of approximately ten other students from all over the world - and your mentor. Within this family, you'll create memories, and share your experiences.
