A Once in a Life-Time Experience | My Oxford Summer Course Journey

by Louvaine, Oxford Summer Course Participant

When I first arrived at Oxford, it felt quite overwhelming seeing the huge campus and the red buildings surrounding me. However, the mentors (and my personal mentor in particular) were all extremely helpful and lovely. Before I knew it, I had become familiar with my surroundings and has already begun to make friends.

My mentor, Maia, was especially brilliant – she was active in the group chat and was easy to get in contact with whenever I needed her.

The academic sessions were incredibly informative, they covered all of the missing parts that I had not been taught in school and more. My tutor was incredible in explaining the tasks that she assigned us and ensured that we all understood the material perfectly.

I think I will really miss the afternoon activities that we’ve enjoyed every day, from trips to colleges to sports day, and playing games with my mentor family.

This was such a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am grateful to have been a part of and I will cherish it even more as the years go by.

I can’t wait to make even more memories here, surrounded by such positive people. I also need to mention Josh, the campus manager, who I contacted the day before I arrived at LMH. He knew my name when I first arrived which made me feel at home. Josh was always around and it was nice saying ‘good morning’ and ‘hi’ to him as he was always there to brighten up the campus.
