London Calling…
It was another early start for the participants as they finished their breakfasts and boarded the coaches to London at 9.30am. Our first stop was Embankment Gardens where we started our walking tours of London. Guided by some wonderful London tour guides, we walked around Whitehall, Churchill’s War Rooms, 10 Downing Street, the Cabinet, the Houses of Parliament and even Buckingham Palace (though sadly the Queen wasn’t in!). Did you know that 10 Downing Street is home to Larry the cat, Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office?
Time to Explore Alone
Afterwards, the participants were given a few hours of spare time to find some lunch and explore London for themselves. Some went to the British Museum, others went to the National Gallery or the Saatchi Gallery, whilst others braved Oxford Street to do some serious shopping!
We arrived in Cambridge just in time for dinner, after which the participants could either have some free time to rest from the busy day or watch ‘The Theory of Everything’ (a film mostly shot in St. John’s College, Cambridge!). After a chilled evening, it was an early night for most as the participants got ready to start their next week of tutorials.
