Pastoral Information

01
Intro

We place a huge emphasis on creating a supportive and approachable environment at Immerse Education. Read more about our Safeguarding processes and on-site team, including our mentors – who are a team of friendly, specially trained graduates and undergraduates from Cambridge University or Oxford University. Mentors help our participants quickly settle into the programme.

02
Student Welfare

Safeguarding

We are accredited by the British Accreditation Council, the leading mark of educational quality for the sector.

In addition, all of our team members pass an Enhanced DBS check (the UK’s criminal record check) and undergo safeguarding and welfare training. We take the safety and well-being of our participants extremely seriously.

All participants on an Immerse programme are assigned to a “Mentor Family” – a group of 10 students who are led by an Immerse Education Mentor, who also lives on-site.

Mentors offer support and friendship to all participants. They truly understand the challenges and pressures that participants face and are happy to share their own advice and experience. Mentors are often alumni of the Immerse programmes, so they are able to relate their experience to each of the participants. It’s an unrivalled support system that we’re incredibly proud of.

Pastoral Care

School Management

In Cambridge, Oxford, London and Sydney, each of our programmes is managed by a senior, trained and experienced College Manager.

Our College Manager oversees the Mentor team and manages the organisation and execution of academic classes and social activities. Each of our College Managers is experienced in summer programme organisation and are trained to Level 3 Safeguarding standards. They are the point of contact throughout the programme for any pastoral or academic concerns. Each Manager is enthusiastic and supportive.

Our resident summer team, together with college personnel, supervise each of our sites 24/7. The colleges and the cities themselves are very safe environments. All members of staff undergo extensive security and safety checks, including UK Government Enhanced DBS checks.

Whilst students are encouraged to develop independence throughout the programme, they must do so safely – in pairs or small groups. The Immerse team is always on hand to supervise participants and to ensure that everyone enjoys both a safe and rewarding experience.
