Konrad has worked for a number of high-end architecture firms internationally, including Snohetta Oslo, Kengo Kuma Tokyo and KPF NYC. Combining a broad work experience with a multi-disciplinary approach to architecture (having for example worked as an archeologist in Greece) allows for teaching architecture as both a professional and theoretical subject that can allow for a broad range of interests.
Guest speakers from previous summers
Dr Nigel Warburton
Abi Oyepitan
Dr Lynda Shaw
The lessons I’ve been participating in have definitely been different to what I’m used to and class back home. There’s been more discussion-based activities with a different lecture style. It’s a broad range of different types of ways to learn. And there’s also some time for us to learn and independently some time to work on our personal projects.
My tutor is Panos. He’s an architect from Greece, who’s a lecturer at Cambridge. He’s been teaching us about architectural history, the concepts in architecture and how to work as an architect. He’s been combining parts from the architecture course with his own prior experience in the industry. This programme has definitely solidified my chosen university and what course I should take.

Immerseâ„¢ Architecture & Design Sample Modules
-
Module 1 - Architectural Design Development
This module will introduce you to the key principles of architectural design, from balance to rhythm, emphasis to contrast, to visual, proportion and scale. You will establish an understanding of the fundamental link between creative design, technological, environmental considerations, and social and historical context, and how these factors may influence an architectural design project. -
Module 2 - Architectural Design Realisation
Your creative design skills will be pushed into the next stage of the design process in this module - the realisation of design concepts into technical details and visualizations. You will be tasked with bringing an idea to life, using architectural design software and design principles taught in the previous unit. This module is designed to challenge and advance your technical skills in the field. -
Module 3 - The Science of Materials
In this module, you will be exposed to the scientific principles of materials used in architecture, engineering and construction. The goal of this unit is to build a firm understanding of the tools used in the field and the questions an architect may need to consider when pursuing a design concept. -
Module 4 - Sustainable Refurbishment
This unit will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to identify refurbishment solutions that can improve a building’s performance, align it with future needs, and produce reports and record drawings of buildings. You will have the chance to examine current issues in relation to global warming and explore how modern architects are finding solutions to these complex problems in their designs. You will apply the knowledge and skills taught by producing your own sustainable refurbishment plan for a building of your choice. -
Module 5 - Free-Hand Architectural Designs
Drawings are a means of communication that can solve many problems when it comes to representing an architectural space and its elements. Learn how to draw, by hand, an entire architectural design with basic graphical representations as well as different observational techniques and custom atmospheres. Floor plans, sections, facades, and different perspectives, are some of the elements you will be able to draw by the end of this module. -
Module 6 - Introduction to Interior Design
Learn to develop an interior design project from a client’s vision to the detailed preparation of the final project. In this module, you will explore the world of interior design, form an understanding of how measurements and proportions work, as well as establishing the right criteria when selecting materials, lighting, colours, and textures for the best result. -
Module 7 - Digital Illustrations
Ideas are brought to life in this module where you’ll learn how to portray spaces in a semi-realistic way, creating a bridge between the technical and the artistic. You will learn how to generate an illustrated presentation of an architectural project, focusing on two aspects, axonometric and pedestrian, to enable you to effectively communicate the idea behind an architectural project, with artistic flair. This part of the unit will inform your personal project as you build digital designs that will be a part of a design portfolio. -
Module 8 - Collaging
Collaging is one of the many ways you can express an architectural design project, involving the use of evocative images to effectively share an idea with a client. In this module, you will learn the foundations of the digital collage technique to represent your own architectural project, using different programs and plug-ins for modelling and image editing. By the end of this module, you will have the tools to create collages to share your vision effectively with others.
