I’ve enjoyed meeting new people with Immerse, people who have different passions than I do and are studying different courses – I have learned a lot from them.
Lady Margaret Hall, the college I’m staying in, is such a beautiful college. It’s got so many different areas we can study and play and have fun. I’ve also been learning so much about computer science, which is something I really enjoy.
I’m finding the course content extremely useful. I’ve learned so much in these two weeks and we’ve covered so many new topics that I hadn’t heard of. The relationship with my teacher has been fabulous – I can communicate with him very easily, and the teaching style is what I had expected, with university-style teaching methods.
I think this program has really helped me to to change my ideas about what I could expect from university, and it’s really helped me to make sure I enjoyed what I want to study in the future.
Our tutor was amazing. He knew the answer to every question that you could think of about engineering, and knew about everyone’s specialist subjects and was happy to discuss opportunities in each field with us.
My favourite aspect of the programme would be going on trips such as the tour of the London Underground, and how engineering plays such a vital role. It’s so much easier to learn and focus when there’s something that’s always keeping your attention rather than just having to focus only on lectures and classroom learning.
The thing that I found the most fun was socialising with everyone, whether it’s engineers or the medics or business people. We’ve only known them for two weeks, and this sounds so cheesy, but I feel like I’ve known them for years because we’re always together, we’re always helping each other.

Career Insights programmes in San Francisco
I think that Immerse Education so far has been a great opportunity to learn both more about the subject I’ve really been interested in, and also to get an insight on what life is like here in the UK and learning more about the traditions which are really different to my day to day life.
My economics classes here at Immerse have been really engaging. The classes are relatively small, which gives the potential for students to say their thoughts and debate, encouraging open thinking and conversations with the rest of the class.
I’ve been looking at various interesting topics, such as game theory, the issue of scarcity and managing resources, and the decision making of firms, which are topics that I had never seen before.
I’ve really enjoyed having lessons with my tutor because he makes lessons really compelling and engaging. He uses a structure which I really personally like, which has a mixture of both practical questions and discussions, which gives a really balanced approach. He has this really interesting and engaging way of tackling the subject, which makes it really easy to follow and to understand.
